The Huckabee Suite at Applewood Inn, Freeport, Maine
Standard

The Huckabee Suite

Janet Huckabee, the former first lady of Arkansas, stayed here in 1999 and brought the room to life.

Standard king · ¾ bath (shower, sink, toilet)

The Burgess Suite at Applewood Inn, Freeport, Maine
Standard

The Burgess Suite

Harry and Mary Burgess were the very first guests ever to stay at the Applewood, back in the days when it was still called the Jacaranda House.

Standard queen · Full bath (shower/tub, sink, toilet)

The Zugspitze Suite at Applewood Inn, Freeport, Maine
Standard

The Zugspitze Suite

The Zugspitze is the highest peak in Germany, standing 9,720 feet above sea level. A German couple on honeymoon, impressed by the steep stairs leading up to the room, nicknamed it the Zugspitze Suite. (We have mountaineering staff on hand to help guests approach the room.)

Standard queen · ¾ bath

The Bennett Suite at Applewood Inn, Freeport, Maine
Standard

The Bennett Suite

Named after the long-time owner of the 8 Holbrook Street building — the house where the inn began.

Standard queen · ¾ bath

The Berge Suite at Applewood Inn, Freeport, Maine
Two-level suite

The Berge Suite

Pronounced Berg-ey. Bobby Berge was a corporate guest who took over this room for many months — and became another member of the family. Two levels, with a private living room downstairs, a gas fireplace, a futon and a kitchenette.

Two-level king suite · Full bath · Gas fireplace · Kitchenette

The Shelton Suite at Applewood Inn, Freeport, Maine
Deluxe

The Shelton Suite

Named for true friends and patrons of the Applewood Inn, who, the innkeepers say, changed their lives.

Deluxe king · ¾ bath

The Jay Suite at Applewood Inn, Freeport, Maine
Deluxe

The Jay Suite

Named for one of the innkeepers. Jay and his wife Jenn founded the Applewood Inn back in 1998.

Deluxe king · Full bath

The Jenn Suite at Applewood Inn, Freeport, Maine
Deluxe

The Jenn Suite

Also named for one of the innkeepers. Jenn is the style and spirit of the Applewood — the inn would probably resemble a hunting camp (albeit a great one) had she not blessed these houses with her touch.

Deluxe king · Full bath

The Aidan Suite at Applewood Inn, Freeport, Maine
Jacuzzi

The Aidan Suite

Aidan is Jay and Jenn’s first-born, who arrived in 2001 amid one of the renovations of the inn. He is the resident translator — versed in French and Turkish, so try to stump him — and the resident practical joker. He recommends the home fries and the bacon, especially the bacon.

Deluxe king · Full bath · Jacuzzi tub for two

The Alev Suite at Applewood Inn, Freeport, Maine
Jacuzzi

The Alev Suite

Alev is the first daughter and second-born, and the inn’s other Turkish and French translator — only two years behind her brother. She has a flair for the arts, and recommends the cinnamon sweet French toast.

Deluxe king · ¾ bath (shower only) · Jacuzzi tub for two

The Sophie Suite at Applewood Inn, Freeport, Maine The Sophie Suite, second view — Applewood Inn, Freeport, Maine
Master suite

The Sophie Suite

Sophia — “Sophie” — born in 2005, is the youngest of Jay and Jenn’s children. She answers to Sophie, Sophia, Sophs, “hey you” and “third child,” and she is always smiling. Her culinary tastes include everything, and she recommends everything. Her suite has a private king bedroom, a loft built into the vaulted ceiling with twin and king beds, a sofa that opens to a double trundle, a full kitchen and a dining table for six.

Master suite · Private bedroom + vaulted loft · Full kitchen · Dining for six · ¾ bath (shower only)
